With the foregoing, you can comfortably receive the prescription provided by a specialist in your email, so it is a perfect complement to the video and telephone consultations that you conduct with your doctor.
What does the electronic prescription consist of?
The e-prescription allows professionals, through the electronic signature, to supply prescriptions by email. Hence, after the appointment you will receive a code in your email in-tray with which you can acquire the medication at any of the 22,000 pharmacies in Spain. This is possible since the electronic prescription tool provided by Adeslas is endorsed by the Spanish College of Physicians and connected to the network of pharmacies.
How does the electronic prescription work?
To obtain the electronic prescription, you only have to be an insured party of an Adeslas healthcare policy.
- Firstly, you must make an appointment with any of the professionals available on your healthcare provider list. If you have any doubts regarding the type of policy or the coverage arranged, we recommend that you access the customer area, where you have all the information regarding your policy and numerous additional functionalities.
- Remember that at Adeslas, we have provided you with our healthcare provider list so that (at the doctor’s discretion) you can be attended to virtually through a telephone appointment or video call.
- After the appointment (in person or remotely), you will receive a document in your email with the prescription, with the format in the following example:
- At the pharmacy you must identify yourself and show on your mobile screen (or in paper format) the prescription or the code included therein. The pharmacist will check its validity in their IT system and issue the prescribed medicine.
Does the use of the Adeslas electronic prescription have any additional cost?
No. Adeslas, as the leading health insurance company, has made this functionality available to its insured parties at no additional charge. The only requirement to access it is to have an email account in which to receive the prescription issued by the medical professional.
Is it possible to acquire the prescription issued by any pharmacy?
Yes, the electronic prescription provided by Adeslas is endorsed by the Spanish College of Physicians and is connected to the whole network of pharmacies in Spain, so you can visit your usual pharmacy.
What type of medicines cannot be prescribed using an electronic prescription?
The current regulations allow any prescription issued electronically, with the exception of the following:
- Magistral formulas.
- Narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances.
- Especially confidential prescriptions.
- Partial prescriptions with regard to the number of containers.
